Energy and Natural Resources

Legal counsel in all stages of energy and natural resource projects has become indispensable given the growing complexity, technical components and regulatory reforms to the energy market in recent years, combined with the increasing judicialization and involvement of communities. This includes the interaction with other private or government companies, sectorial authorities, political authorities and communities that implies communication and reputation variables.

RCZ has a team with a great understanding of the energy, mining, cement and water markets. Therefore, our assistance encompasses the processing of electricity concessions with the Electricity and Fuels Commission in the project development and implementation stage; the establishment and protection of mining property; the application for, amendment, regularization and perfection of water rights; actions and measures before the General Water Bureau, Hydraulics Work Bureau and the National Irrigation Commission in relation to reservoirs and hydroelectric projects; proceedings and measures before the National Electric Coordinator; the establishment and processing of easements; any process before the Environmental Impact Assessment Service; negotiation and drafting of the contracts required to develop and operate projects (EPC, O&M, PPA, take-or-pay, interconnection and transmission, among others); assistance in implementing the Producer Extended Liability Law; and generally, the preparation of legal opinions on the regulation of these markets and complex disputes.

We also have vast, productive experience in the prevention, preparation and defense of civil and commercial disputes and litigation before arbitration and ordinary courts and other administrative agencies.
